Thank God for the Beauty of His Creation and Wildflower Memories!!!!This past weekend Tiffany, Carly, Mary, Melaney and I continued a tradition that Mel and I had started about 5 years ago. We took a road trip down 290 to Chapell Hill and Washington County to revel in the beauty of Texas spring, ie, all the amazingly beautiful wildflowers. Mel would take some of the most unbelievable pictures, she had a God given talent for finding just the right shot to catch beauty in the most unexpected places. Not only the flowers but in everyday life, in the things that time had weathered and especially in her love of animals and nature. This year's trip was just 10 hours, not the usual 2 days but the beauty we experienced was surreal. The flowers were at their peek and we knew just where to go to avoid the crowds. The only creatures we were hanging with were the horses, sheep, cows and goats that were living among the acres and acres of flowers. I got an amazing new camera for my birthday and a new high power lense, could not wait to try it out. I think we got some amazing pictures.............
Get me out of the Sun!!! The sun was just a little to bright for Mel's taste, could not get a smile out of her......she was too busy squinting.
It took all three of us to get her out in the middle of this field but sure was worth it.
Mel says"My allergies were killing me before........now this is rediculous.....get me back in the car!!!!!!!!
Mary wanted no part of the flowers, horses, goats.....all she wanted was for me to stop interrupting her movie every few minutes to stop the car for another picture.
Carly giving you some idea of how massive these fields were.......and no one else around..........how perfect was that!
WHAT CAN I SAY...........ONLY IN TEXAS!!!! I must add that we did take this sign seriously!
HOWEVER......This is one sign I did not see until I leaned my arms on the "fence" to take a shot. What a "shock" that was :-) Looked like harmless braided rope to me........definitely not something a "city girl" would think had several volts of electricity running thru it!
The bluebonnets were the best I have ever seen them. Those hundreds of people we saw stopping at every little patch along 290 had no idea what they were missing!!
Can you believe this picture? It is as if she was striking a pose just for my camera.
This is one of the three horses that were having an amazing time frolicking in the flowers.
What do you think?? Will this go down as Tiffany's most famous LONG ARM SHOT........the horse looks like he is saying.........your arm is not long enough, all you're gonna get is my nose!
Horsie kiss on the head......these guys were so friendly and so much fun.
Carly definitely got the "camera bug" this trip.......here she gets down for that perfect angle shot.
No flowers, just the most precious minature horse mom and baby.
Had to get some shots with my macro lense!
Up close and personal with some Indian Paint Brushes
A field of nothing but Indian Paint Brushes.....loved the old fence.
This is probably one of my favorites.....So many colors...........it now graces my computer desktop.Hope I didn't overdue the pictures........I took about 300.........maybe I need a photography blog..........what do you think? Would anyone really look at it though?
We had a wonderful day although everyone was exhausted by the time we got home. We have decided that this is going to become a family tradition, the annual Melaney Texas Wildflower Road Trip. Next year we hope that Courtney and Kim will be able to come along as well. Hope you enjoyed sharing a little of our very special day.Expect A Miracle...
